BONUXO

How it works

How Bonuxo works, from the first QR scan to the free coffee

Set up a card once, put a QR code on your counter, and let the wallet do the reminding. Here is what you do and what your customers see.

A Bonuxo program has three parts: the card that lives in the customer's wallet, a dashboard where you design the program and see the results, and the Scanner, a light app for the counter. Customers never install anything.

The flow

Four steps

  1. Create your account. Sign up with your country selected. The trial starts on the Plus plan, so every card type is available while you try it. Your account is set up with the currency, phone format and time zone of your country.
  2. Design the card. Pick a card type, set the reward (for example 8 stamps for a free coffee), add your logo and brand color, and preview the card the way it looks in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.
  3. Invite your customers. Download the printable signage, a poster, a counter card or a handout, each with your sign-up QR already on it. You can also share the link on social media or in a message.
  4. Run it at the counter. Customers show their card, you find them in the Scanner and add the purchase. Rewards are redeemed in the same screen.

What the customer does

Scan, sign up, save the card

A customer scans the QR code or opens your link, fills in a short form and saves the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, with your logo and colors. There is no app to download and no account to remember. From then on the card shows their stamps or points, and every time the balance changes the card on their phone updates on its own.

Each customer also has a customer page, reachable from the card or by link, with their balance, available rewards, active coupons and history of movements.

What you do at the counter

The Scanner app

The Scanner is built for a busy counter. It finds a customer by name, phone number or the QR on their card, lets you add the purchase and redeems rewards and coupons.

  • Quick sign-up of a new customer from the counter.
  • Undo the last operation within a few seconds.
  • Keyboard shortcuts to work without a mouse, and a kiosk mode for a fixed device.
  • If the internet drops, it keeps recording and syncs when the connection returns.
  • A separate PIN for each team member on the Plus plan.

What goes out on its own

Notifications on the wallet card

Notifications reach the customer as pushes on the card they saved, so there is no cost per message and nothing for the customer to opt into on another channel. The ones that go out are:

  • A welcome message when the customer joins
  • A nudge when the customer is close to a reward, and when a reward is ready to redeem
  • A new coupon, and a reminder before it expires
  • A birthday message, with a gift you configure (Plus)
  • A "we miss you" message after a stretch without visits
  • A reminder that points are about to expire, when you turn expiry on for a card
  • A proximity message when the customer is near your location (Apple devices only, with text you write)

What you see

The dashboard

The dashboard is where you design the card, manage rewards and coupons, run campaigns and read the results. On the Plus plan it includes a customer directory and two analytics views: program health, which shows who came back, who cooled off and who saved the card, and an operations view of visits, redemptions and the most redeemed rewards. The dashboard and the emails Bonuxo sends to your account are available in English.

Connecting your systems

POS API and webhooks

You do not need a connection to start: the Scanner is enough. If you want your register or POS system to add purchases on its own, a developer can use the POS API, which looks up balances, records sales with a ticket number so a retry never counts twice, handles cancellations and refunds, and has a separate sandbox for testing. Bonuxo can also notify your own systems with signed webhooks when a customer registers or a reward is redeemed. Access to the API is requested from the dashboard and approved by Bonuxo, and integrations are part of the Plus plan and above.

Good to know

What is not available yet

  • Online payment for the subscription is not available yet. During the trial there is nothing to pay, and at the end of it payment is coordinated with our team.
  • The privacy policy, terms, cookie notice and data deletion page are available in English, but they are general texts. Legal texts specific to your country are not available yet.
  • Marketing emails to your customers are not available in English yet. Notifications to your customers go to the wallet card.
  • There is no SMS or WhatsApp channel to your customers.
  • There are no ready-made integrations with point-of-sale systems used in your country yet. A developer can connect any POS or register through the POS API and signed webhooks.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do my customers have to download an app?

No. They scan a QR code or open a link, fill in a short sign-up form and save the card to the wallet that already comes with their phone.

Does Bonuxo send SMS or WhatsApp messages?

No. Notices reach the customer as notifications on the wallet card itself, so there is no per-message fee.

Does Bonuxo connect to my point-of-sale system?

Through the POS API and signed webhooks, which let a developer connect a register or POS system. Access to the API is requested from your dashboard and approved by Bonuxo. There are no ready-made integrations with point-of-sale systems used in your country yet.

Can my business sign up from my country?

Yes, if your country appears on our pricing page (bonuxo.com/en/pricing). You create an account with your country selected and try Bonuxo free for 14 days. Online payment is not available yet: payment is coordinated with our team at the end of the trial.
